April 29 – Tottenham Hotspur’s faint hopes of winning their first English league title since 1961 have been given an untimely setback after their exciting midfielder Dele Alli, almost certain to line up for England at this summer’s Euros, was banned for three games for violent conduct and will miss the rest of the season.

April 29 – Liverpool could pay up to £8 million for Danny Ings, the out-of-contract striker they gained from Burnley last season, ruled a Professional Football Compensation Committee (PFCC) tribunal. It is a record fee ordered by a tribunal.
April 28 – France and Liverpool defender Mamadou Sakho has been suspended for 30 days by UEFA after it opened disciplinary proceedings against him following a failed drugs test, ruling him out of the rest of the season.
April 28 – The head of the British police force at the centre of the 1989 Hillsborough stadium disaster has been suspended following this week’s sensational verdict that the 96 victims were unlawfully killed.

April 26 – The dream is almost a reality. One of the most miraculous achievements in English football history is within touching distance. Leicester City, 5000 to 1 outsiders at the start of the season to capture their first ever league title, will do exactly that if they win at Manchester United next weekend.
April 25 – Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly in discussion about moving some of their home games next season to Wembley as capacity at White Hart Lane may be reduced by more than initially expected and at an earlier stage under the rebuild plans.

April 25 – The climax to Liverpool’s first season under their charismatic German manager Jurgen Klopp, highlighted by reaching the semi-finals of the Europa League this week, has been marred by their highly rated £18 million central defender Mamadou Sakho being unavailable at the worst possible time after failing a drugs test.
April 22 – Liverpool’s Anfield stadium will host the final of the Four Nations Rugby League tournament November 20, while the London (and by the West Ham’s Olympic Stadium) will host the final group game of the tournament between England and Australia.

April 20 – The investors who took the plunge to save Swansea City in 2002 are poised for a multi-million return on their investments following a valuation of the club putting it at £100 million. On April 9 a Swansea City club statement said that US investors Steve Kaplan, Jason Levein and their investment group are finalising an agreement to take a controlling interest in Welsh club.
April 20 – Man Utd topped the attendance capacity chart for Round 34 of the Premier League, in a week that saw every home team fill their ground to more than 90% of capacity.
