October 28 – Of the 20 clubs qualified for the 2025 Concacaf Champions Cup, eight are former Concacaf Champions Cup winners. Seven clubs are still to qualify ahead of the draw that will take place December 10.
October 25 – Haiti’s Melchie Dumornay and Panama’s Adalberto Carrasquilla have been named 2023/24 Concacaf Women’s and Men’s Players of the Year.
October 25 – As Major League Soccer heads into the business end of their season with the play-offs, the league finds itself competing with the MLB World Series, NCAA College football, the NHL, the start of the NBA season and the big daddy of them all, the NFL.
October 24 – Concacaf has confirmed the venues and dates for the 2024/25 Concacaf Nations League quarter-finals in November that will qualify the four semi-finalists for the March 2025 finals at Hollywood Park’s SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles.
October 23 – In 2006 a French documentary film, Zidane, A 21st Century Portrait trained 17 synchronized cameras on the French legend during a match between Real Madrid and Villarreal. On October 25 MLS, in collaboration with Apple TV, and TikTok will revisit the groundbreaking piece by putting their entire focus on Argentine, and Inter Miami captain, Lionel Messi.
October 22 – In 2016 the United States Soccer Federation finally fell in line with the world in regard to youth soccer age classification. The previous system using the school calendar (August 1st cutoff) was consigned to the scrap heap and the birth year January (1st cutoff) became the defining factor.
October 21 – The inaugural Concacaf W Champions Cup has reached the semi-final stage with two Mexico vs USA match-ups and the final and third place match to be played at a centralised venue in May 2025.
October 18 – Major League Soccer (MLS) commissioner, Don Garber in London speaking at The Summit, Leaders Week this week, hyped up the 10-year, $2.5 billion-plus agreement with Apple that is about to conclude its second season.
October 17 – On Tuesday the NWSL (National Women’s Soccer League) unveiled the latest expansion team in downtown Boston as BOS Nation FC were officially launched.
October 16 – The USA will face Jamaica in the quarter finals of the Concacaf Nations League next month in a match that has the feeling of a must-win for both nations.
October 17 – For the first time in five years, Mexico have beaten their northern neighbours, USA, and to make it all the sweeter, by the scoreline of ‘Dos a Cero’, 2-0.
October 16 – Three weeks ago, former USMNT head coach left Norwegian side Stabaek – by mutual consent and with immediate effect. The club is currently mired in the second tier of Norwegian football and were in free-fall as well as being in danger of missing out on the promotion play-offs.

October 11 – It was a heavy day in Chicago at US Soccer headquarters as up to 30 employees were laid off ahead of the federation’s move to new headquarters in Fayetteville, Georgia, slated for early 2026.
