August 19 – Brazilian clubs have become the playground bullies and are bossing the Copa Libertadores. On Wednesday, both Flamengo and Atletico Mineiro stormed past their opponents to join Palmeiras in the last four. Fluminense will try to complete the Brazilian quartet against Ecuador’s Barcelona after a 2-2 draw in their quarterfinal first leg.
August 19 – Flamengo have sidelined Eduardo Bandeira de Mello with a membership suspension of 90 days, preventing the former club chairman from voting or participating in the presidential elections later this year.
August 19 – US streaming giant Rokuhas taken a one-year sponsorship with Brazil’s São Paulo Futebol Clube, its first step into football club sports marketing in the country.

August 16 – The World Leagues Forum (WLF) has slammed FIFA’s decision to amend the international match calendar without consultation and which has seen the rescheduling of South America’s FIFA World Cup qualifiers that had originally been due to be played in March 2021 to extended triple match windows in September and March.
August 10 – FIFA has approved a change to the men’s International Match Calendar in response to the global disruption caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.
August 5 – The South American Football Confederation (Conmebol) distributed $1.3 billion among its associations and clubs between 2016 and 2021, the organisation’s president Alejandro Dominguez claimed in a virtual meeting with his council.
August 4 – Cruzeiro has become the first major Brazilian club to abandon its non-profit entity status in favour of a company structure – ‘Sociedade Anônima’ – as the club moves to restructure its finances.
July 30 – Rio de Janeiro local authorities will allow fully vaccinated fans to attend live matches in September with stadium capacity limited to 50%.
July 27 – In an ongoing public war of words Rogerio Caboclo has said his predecessor Marco Polo Del Nero could end up in prison. Caboclo (pictured), the current CBF president, is suspended over allegations of sexual harassment.
July 24 – Rogerio Caboclo will not return from suspension to resume the presidency of the Confederation of Brazilian Sport (CBF), a Brazilian sports court has ruled. The football official has been side lined for 60 days because of sexual harassment allegations.
July 22 – Brazilian giant Flamengo no longer wants to release players for the national team during international windows when those fixtures clash with the domestic calendar and the Rio de Janeiro club is going to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) to make its case.
July 20 – Suspended Confederation of Brazilian Football (CBF) president Rogerio Caboclo (pictured) has claimed that Marco Polo Del Nero blackmailed him. Alienated, Caboclo is exploring legal means to return to his role.
July 16 – The Argentina Football Association (AFA) have sold the naming rights to their top tier league to their crypto fan token partner Socios.com. The one-year deal will see the league renamed the Torneo Socios.com.
July 14 -Lawyers for Rogerio Caboclo (pictured) has said the suspended CBF president was “badly” interpreted and demanded the ruling body’s ethics committee drop the complaint against their client.
